Christele Jacquemin is an award-winning photographer who has worked for almost twenty years in the photography and perfumery industries in Spain, after which she returned to her homeland France to create artisanal perfumes under her personal brand.

An avid traveler, Christele takes photographs during her fascinating trips, which then become an inspiration for her fragrance collections, including handcrafted perfumes, home scents, and even soaps.

Today I’ll review Christele Jacquemin’s perfumes, one of which, Impermanence, became a finalist of The Art & Olfaction Awards 2020 in the Artisan category.

Christele Jacquemin’s Perfumes Review

Impermanence

Inspired by the collection of photographs Christele took in Jin Ze, a village in the suburbs of Shanghai, this perfume conveys the harmony and tranquility of that place.

Impermanence combines the green freshness of Hinoki leaves, and their lemony facets, with a citrus-aromatic blend of bergamot and rosemary softened by some rosy nuances.

Blue ginger adds invigorating spiciness that you feel right from the opening of Impermanence and that makes it sound warmer and more expressive.

The notes of vetiver and mate, for their part, wrap the composition of this perfume in a delicate herbal-woody hug.

Impermanence is a fragrance that definitely can put you in a state of deep relaxation and tranquility in which you would like to remain a little bit longer.

But the name of this perfume says it all.

Notes: Bergamot, Rosemary, Blue Ginger, Hinoki Leaves, Yerba Mate, Palmarosa, Rose, Vetiver.

Meandering Soul

Meandering Soul is an olfactive interpretation of the time Christele spent in Taipei, the capital of Taiwan, and her attempts to escape the noise and chaos of that city by going out at night and reconnecting with nature.

This perfume opens with an evocative blend of sweet fennel, with its specific, anise-like aroma, and bitter-sweet cinnamon sticks soaked in caramel syrup.

A little later, a note of cinnamon becomes more dominant and, at the same time, softer and denser accompanied by heady narcissus and sensual ylang-ylang.

A blend of tobacco and hinoki wood, in turn, perfectly recreates the multifaceted scent of fine cigars, in which herbaceous, sweet, and woody nuances blend into each other.

Meandering Soul is a beautiful and intriguing story filled with the desire to escape the everyday bustle and dive into the world of sweet dreams.

Into your own little fantasy world.

Notes: Sweet Fennel, Cinnamon, Caramel, Ylang-Ylang, Narcissus, Hinoki Wood, Tobacco.

Christele Jacquemin's perfumes review

Underworld

This perfume was inspired by the collection of photographs Christele took during her frequent trips between Barcelona, where she resided for seventeen years, and Paris, where she studied perfumery, and the feeling of uncertainty she experienced at that time.

Underworld features a bracing and slightly pungent blend of spices, including cumin, pepper, and cardamom notes, on a deep and alluring floral-woody background.

The impressive spicy opening of this perfume becomes softer over time, due to the note of carrot seeds, with its comforting and subtly powdery aroma.

Complementing each other, mimosa and tuberose add a dense and passionate floral sound to Underworld, while a woody-balsamic accord brings enticing depth.

Bright and expressive in the beginning, Underworld slowly turns into a very intimate and sensual fragrance that reflects your dreams and desires.

The ones that only you know.

Notes: Cumin, Pepper, Cardamom, Carrot Seeds, Mimosa, Tuberose, Patchouli, Vetiver, Frankincense.
