This year, a perfume house Volnay Parfums celebrates its 100th anniversary. Created in 1919 by a commercial director of Francois Coty Rene Duval and his wife and model for Lanvin Germaine Madeline Duval, this house immediately became very famous.

After the death of Rene Duval in 1936, his wife Germaine Madeline tried to resume a perfume business but unfortunately failed. The story and the heritage of this perfume house could have stayed only in the pages of history.

But the great-grandchildren of Germaine Madeline Duval decided to bring back the days of glory of Volnay Parfums.

The original formulas of Ambre de Siam (1919), Yapana (1922), Brume d’Hiver (1922), Etoile d’Or (1925) and Perlerette (1925) have been entrusted to the perfumer Amelie Bourgeois. She has kept the refinement of these perfumes of yesteryear while sublimating them with delicacy and subtlety.

I have already told you about Brume d’Hiver and Ambre de Siam by this perfume house.

Today I will review Yapana Volnay Parfums, a beautiful and mysterious oriental perfume for women and for men, originally created in 1919 but filled with the modern sound.

Fragrance Review of Yapana Volnay Parfums

The name of this perfume was inspired by the aromatic plant Ayapana triplinervis that is originally from Latin America. It is believed that this plant has the medical properties which inspired Germaine Madeline to create a perfume that would make people feel good.

Yapana opens with the impressive and heady mix of citrus and spicy notes on the deep oriental background. After a while, the bright opening of Yapana perfume gives way to no less beautiful and interesting heart with a very tender sound.

The perfect blend of rose and ylang-ylang creates a very charming atmosphere of this perfume, while the synthetic note of Helional brings to Yapana its light floral and aldehydic scent.

The note of Elemi gives this perfume its deep spicy-woody aroma, which is beautifully complemented by the traditional Base 4092.

It should be noted, that this base featuring rose, clove, vanilla, and powdery notes, adds to all Volnay perfumes a very alluring vintage tone. Nevertheless, in Yapana perfume, the character of the Base 4092 is not dominant that makes the sound of this perfume very modern.

The expressive and powerful oriental accord makes the scent of Yapana perfume very deep and tantalizing. The note of Siam benzoin gives this perfume its warm and balsamic aroma, while the note of patchouli brings to Yapana some light earthy nuances.

In turn, the note of iris makes these earthy nuances even more evocative and adds to this composition its unique powdery sound.

Yapana Volnay Parfums is the fragrance that is very interesting to explore. Each time when you think that you know everything about this perfume, it reveals something new.

Yapana is multifaceted and intriguing oriental perfume which produces an unforgettable impression and definitely makes you feel good.

Notes: Italian Bergamot, Pink Pepper, Bigarade Grapefruit, Base 4092, Ylang-Ylang, Rose, Elemi, Helional, Siam Benzoin, Labdanum, Indo Patchouli, Rice Bran, Iris, Golden Stone, Green Vanilla.

If it were a place, it would be an elegant cafe.

If it were a color, it would be soft amber.

If it were one word, it would be an intrigue.
