Atelier des Ors is a French niche perfume house, that creates exquisite and very artistic perfumes. This perfume brand draws inspiration from the craftsmanship and the arts of perfumery and gold gilding.

Looking at the perfumes by Atelier des Ors, it seems that the gold is not only in the name of this perfume house (French word “Ors” is translated as gold in English) but also inside the perfume bottles.

I have already told you about Rose Omeyyade and White Collection Atelier des Ors. Today I’ll review Iris Fauve Atelier des Ors, beautiful perfume, created by very talented perfumer Marie Salamagne.

Inspiration

Iris Fauve perfume is inspired by the mythological character and the goddess of rainbow Iris. She was the messenger of the gods, especially of Hera and Zeus.

The rainbow was the bridge between gods and people, and Iris used that bridge to convey to people the messages of gods.

There is a legend, that one day the rainbow has been broken and the small shards of it fell to the ground. Beautiful flowers irises grew from those shards. It is believed that Hippocrates has named irises after the goddess, and from Greek, the word «iris» is translated as the rainbow.

In perfumery iris is famous for its unique and tantalizing scent, that depending on the sort, can be sweet floral-powdery or earthy-woody.

Iris is the main ingredient of all powdery perfumes, and it also has very long-lasting and intense scent, that is highly regarded by the perfumers and perfume lovers.

Perfume Review of Iris Fauve Atelier des Ors

Iris Fauve opens with the charming duo of cinnamon and bergamot. The note of cinnamon gives its sweet and warm spicy scent, while bergamot adds its refreshing sound.

After a while, beautiful and alluring note of iris appears and determines the main theme of Iris Fauve perfume.

The note of iris gives this perfume its deep powdery and creamy scent with some earthy undertones. Patchouli makes these earthy nuances even more expressive, and together with the note of grassy-smoky vetiver and the note of earthy-woody cypriol reveals the multifaceted nature of iris.

The note of myrrh in the base of Iris Fauve gives this perfume its heady, balsamic and a little smoky scent. Cistus adds to this composition its sensual musky aroma, while the note of liatrix makes Iris Fauve even warmer and deeper and gives its light sweetness.

Musk frames all other notes and adds to Iris Fauve its soft, but very passionate sound.

In this perfume, the note of iris is beautifully surrounded by spicy, woody and balsamic notes, which make the scent of iris even more evocative and alluring.

Iris Fauve Atelier des Ors is very beautiful, enveloping and a little mysterious perfume. It is like the softest veil, that is hiding something very special and tantalizing.

It is like the most tender powder, that touches the skin and soul and leaves you in a sweet melancholic mood…

If it were a place, it would a beautiful old villa in the autumn.

If it were a color, it would be soft gray with brown.

If it were one word, it would be impressive.
